Her achievements when she was a teenager in America (which we refer to as Maureen O'Hara today) would certainly put her in the category of child prodigies. But for a young Irish girl surrounded with gifted parents and extended family, these characteristics were a normal. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen excelled at sports and enjoyed playing rough sports. Her talent for performing was the perfect match for her interest in sports. That was apparent when she won every Feis for drama and theater which Ireland could offer. When she was in her 14th year she joined an organization called the Abbey Theater to follow her aspirations and pursue studies in operatic and classical vocals.
